Gemma's fabulous tutorial

I am really enjoying making cards again at the moment so I have this fun 8x8 butterfly card to share with you all today. Please comment below let us know what you think, are you enjoying the tutorials?

There is plenty of time to join in this months challenge, I am looking forward to seeing all the entries, instructions for this card can be found below.

Steps

1- Cut a piece of cardstock to fit the card blank
2- Take the larger butterfly from the stamp set and using Archival ink stamps randomly over the left side of the cardstock
3- Spread three colours of Distress ink onto a mat spray with water, when spraying with water wet the inks enough that they form beads of ink but not enough to form puddles.
4- Press the cardstock into the ink and dry with a heat tool, repeat until happy with the background effect created.

5- Using the script stamp from the same set and Distress Ink, stamp along the right side edge of the cardstock.

6- Stamp the same butterfly randomly over the cardstock with glue and sprinkle with glitter, make sure to wash the stamp straight away and make sure all the glue is removed. As the glue dries a lot of the glitter will fall off, but it normally leaves just enough for a nice sparkle.

7- Die cut three scalloped circles that fit on top of each other, using the three inks from the background cover each circle, one which each colour of ink.
8- Stamp the largest circle with the same script stamp used on the background, use the small butterfly stamp on the middle circle and a sentiment and large butterfly on the smallest.
9- Attach ribbon to the bottom of the cardstock and attach it to the card blank.
10- Glue the largest and the middle circle to the card and then the smallest using foam tape, add a few gems to finish.

Terry: I have made a gift envelope with a small card to go with it. This small envelope was made with the fabulous papers from Polkadoodles, Just love them because it has so many fabulous butterflies and colors on it. So I cut out an envelope from a template from DD. I then cut the papers and placed them on the envelope. The borders are worked on with Distress Ink and I placed some sentiments on the card and on the envelope to finish my project.

Gemma  You can never have too many birthday cards, can you?  Pop back to the blog on the 11th for my step by step tutorial.

Lou Sims: I've decided to alter a phone box that I've had for eons using the following Polkadoodles products: Tropical Underworld clear stamp set, Stitched Circles dies, Scenic Landscape dies, oodles of mediums, distress inks and my pan pastels. More photos and details of products used can be found on my blog HERE ...

Julia McNeill....This is a litttle wooden birdhouse I picked up and I painted using Yellow and Pink Acrylic paints. I then used the new Polkadoodles Time to Bloom Stamp set. I stamped a little detail onto the house using white Gesso, and then stamped the little border onto the house. The bird and flowers and stamped them on watercolour card, coloured with my zig pens and decorated the house with them...

Jan Marshall...using Polkadoodles stamps Great Days clear stamp set  , Distress Oxides for the base, I heat embossed the flowers and then used water colour paints, added some snips of ribbon and my tag was ready to go ...

Julia McNeill.... For this card I started with the A4 papers from the new Polkadoodles Posy Doodles collection and covered the card. I then cut out 3 circles from a coordinating paper. The circles were then inked using Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers. I stamped over using the Special Times stamp set. I mounted it onto the card, and then used an inktence pencil to create a shadow around the circles to make them stand out from the page. I then added a few strips of paper from the 6x6 Posy Doodles paper. I stamped up the flowers on watercolour card and coloured up with SN sparkle pens, shaped the flowers and then added them to the card. The whole card was edged with distress ink Black suit. To finish off, I grabbed the die, used it as a stencil to edge the circles with some doodling & finally a load of white paint splattery stuff...
